Obama and The Nobel Peace Adward!

I have been hearing a lot of the President and his accepting the Noble Peace Award in Norway. Some have cheered him on and some have let it be known he has achieved nothing in his short-career to be given the award. It comes down to what people around the world think and here at home. A few have said he is the "man of peace" this is why he was given this awarded for what he achieve so far! But could this hurt him in the long run? In three years time when he tries for another run in 2012? The White House has said they tried to "play down" this accepting of the award. I guess they didn't want to offended some people back home! Even the President has said there are far more better people in the world. Whom had done more then he has ever done in his career. They are far more accepting of this award then he'll ever be. I have to say... I like the guy honesty in what he had to say no matter what the outcome is. He seem to be able to let he true feels show regardless of what taken place. I have to wonder what he thinks of all this did he feel guilty about being called the "Man of Peace," when has just sent more troops to the middle east? It's hard to please everyone in the U.S. let alone the world! My personal opinion of all this is it a great honor to be awarded for great achievement that person has made so far. I think it was too early to be given this type of award to someone who only been in office for a short-time. These kinds of awards should be given to people who have achieve much more then a President who just "learning the ropes" in his new job. I think the committee got it wrong in some respect maybe they were trying to boost their own image? Because the President is a very popular guy at the moment. But as we all know the popularity doesn't long for very long!!! Especially here in American government.

Health Care... still battleing it out!

The Health Care bill is still an on going process in our nation capital. It doesn't seem like the President will be getting it sign before the end of the year. It's seem like some of the Senate members are still in debate about certain things in the bill. Like, for one I been hearing about abortion and how it could come into play with health care. Is it a right for anyone whom wants to get abortion. Who can't afford to pay on their own or have health care insurance. If this bill pass could they use the new Health Care reform as part of their medical expenses? It's a hard topic to disgust. Because you have people who are against abortion no matter what. I think the Senators want to work around this subject. It all about looking out for their best interest in my opinion. They know this health care reform is not setting well with most Americans. It hard to convince people to when there is a struggling economy, and people are still struggling to pay the bills on time. It's not on their top list as well as mines at the moment. It makes everyone think members of both houses have people best interest in mind. Yes, maybe they do and it helps to make one look good in the eyes of the public. I think they are trying to do everything in their power to make each of the Senate members, as well as the general public understand what this health bill can do to help people. But, how much longer can one person take to hearing about it. That they get bored out of their mind and just turn off the idea of health care bill all together! It's like this every time something important about Health Care... they can't reach agreement on to vote yes or no and still go on debate with what to leave out what to keep in. It like we learned in class they are to get to the soft spot of people "heart" for them to go for it. Because they know they can't afford to make enemies with one of their "own party."

Black Friday! Does it really help our economy or makes it wrost?

Black Friday is what some say is the biggest day of the year in shopping. This kind of ties into what we were talking today in class. How people seem to be centered to either one person influence over another. In some cases can make their own decisions to be either influence by others or by their own choose. I bet a lot of business are happy with the day after Thanksgiving. But, is it really worth it for people to wake up early and stand in line for the stores to open up. Then when the stores open up people always seem to want to make a "mad dash" to get the best sells, before the shelves are bare with nothing! I have read a few articles online in the Bay City Times. They did a poll where they ask readers if they were going to get up early, wait until later in the day or stay in bed/home? What I found interesting is most people including me were at 68% for staying home for the day... there was about 20% of people that got up early for the bargains sells. I have to wonder if these great sales. Are the best way to spent our money, when it is hard times for people right now. Where are most people getting the money to spent on a new Television set? Yes! it does help the economy when shopping. There one article that said how much can one person shop before they realize they are going into debts with things that people really don't need. What happens when people spent the money and then realize they can't make their payments on time. It harsh reality people seem to not think about most of the time during the holiday season. It kind of like how the government works in a way where you try to adversities to get people to go with their idea like with Black Friday with prices lowered it gets more people to shop bring more money into the business that help the economy get a boost.
I just don't understand why people can't use their head sometime and think before they buy. I always say to myself do I have a enough to buy this or that I don't really need and be able to afford to pay my bills? I just don't understand what is so hard about making a budget and sticking to it. Most people are always yelling at our government to save money and don't spent it on "silly projects". Well... it can go the same way with the holiday shopping or any day of the year. I think it is the decision we all can agree to disagree on. It how we choose the decision that can not just affect us but how this can also affect the country in a "big picture" then we could have image.

The President and Health Care Bill!

We have been talking about the health care bill for the past few weeks now. It seems like it all you hear about on the news and in the papers all across the country. It has been coming up in class often. Today some people have said that it probably not going to pass in the Senate. I think they maybe are right. We talked about how a bill was passed how it can be sent to the President's desk for his signature. Now, that the house has passed the bill and it the Senate turn. If it doesn't get passed by the senate will the President try again? Will he wait for a new session? where he might lose more of his party in both houses? That another question we have to wait and find out who going to win or lose in this health care reform... I found this article about the Health Care Bill in The New York Times. It talks about how the House of Representatives have passed the bill by a land side victory! It has been said that it got pass by more then 5 votes. It could have gone either way that tells us how close it was. I read the article it was interesting how we are talking about how government can play like this "tug of war" game with each other. It seem like it a battle against who can come out on top. Who can be the hero to save the day for us "poor folks." Now it a wait and see game with the Senate will they pass it with a larger margin since their only 100 of them in the Senate camber against 435 of them in the house? We just have to wait and see what the outcome is. It just seems like it all part of a ploy to get everyone on congress side. Because they know reelection is coming up this time next year and some will be fighting for their seats once again. It seems like there already some "fights" that will probably be going on with people in their own party. I just watch the CNN news where they replayed the c-span channel of a scene of the house is celebrating the victory of getting the bill passed. They had the yes and nay vote on the screen it looks like some republicans were in favor and some democrats not in favor. You have to always wonder if they are going to get the "brush off" within their own party? It always seem to be that way a lot and it gets stupid after while. If this bill is suppose to helps us in the long run be able to afford health care. I think the bill will be good especially for me like myself who working on a fix income. But, there one thing I have been hearing about this bill I don't like is. If this gets pass and I get health care. I would have to pay whatever it cost and I couldn't have a say in it or not. I could have to get this insurances no matter what. If I need use it for some medical emergency I couldn't go to my own doctor. I would have to go to a government doctor. Could this be why is there still some who are against it? Could it have to be money issue? or just another gimmick to be against another party idea?

The Battle of the Patriot Act!

I found this article in the New York Times, to be very interesting to what we are talking about in class. In regrets to ones right as an American citizens. Like with the first amendment and how these laws are in the book to protect our civil right. To live freely with out the government looking over our shoulders to see what we are up too. It seems like each year our government is taken away little by little of what our country stands for. That is to live freely, pursuit of happiness with up holding the laws of this country. Yes, I think we should have some protecting and even save guards our freedom. But, at what cost is it for the government to be spying on us the people. I think after 9/11 our country did change forever in regrades to the fact we are like the rest of the world who has to stand by and watch politician do what they think is best without having gave the public a chance to talk about this Patriot Act law. They pass this act to protect us the people, but what I and problem the rest of Americans like me is that they were listing into our private converstation, emails and etc... They said they were only looking at people who might be suspacted as being part of a terroists group. This quote from the article has me worried does this mean any American citizen and what about govermental offical do they get wiretap too? "final provision set to expire is called the “lone wolf” provision. It allows the F.B.I. to get a court order to wiretap a terrorism suspect who is not connected to any foreign terrorist group or foreign government. "
