World War II Hero - Heritage Layout

Have a new layout... it about my great-Uncle during his service in World War II. He passed away three years ago. I decided to do a layout to honor his life and memory. After his death I found he also was in the Battle of the Bulge which lasted from Dec 16, 1944 to Jan 25, 1945. I also did my very first packet for this page. Where I could slide the story of the battle of the bulge and the letters he wrote home to my grandparents. It seems he was pretty close to his older brother (my grandfather). My grandmother even kept most if not all of his letters he wrote to them. When we cleaned out her apartment after she moved into the nursing home. This layout was part of the YTLH (YouTube Layout Hope) facebook page. We had to use buttons, brads or badge in our layout for the month of November. I chose the buttons and brads for my layout. I used the Tim Holtz idea-ology Salvage Stickers for the buttons, and the stars and little circle brads I received in a RAK. I like how it turns out hope you all like what I've done.

2014 December Daily

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good weekend. I have another blog for you all to look at. This is a new challenge for me. I've decided to try my hand at doing a December Daily this year. A lady that I subscribe to on her youtube channel is doing a challenge to help encourage people who haven't done a December Daily. Or, if they have done one in the past to get new ideas for future December Daily. She asked if I wanted to join her group and I decided to join. Because I like to challenge myself with new and creative ways. Also, try to think outside the box that isn't just scrapbook layouts. Have to say I enjoy doing these December Daily challenges so far. I've done two challenges by Sue, who is shiles728 on youtube. She a wonderful lady and became a good friend through youtube. She has gotten me to sometimes think outside of the box with my art. Her first challenge was to a cover for whatever you were going to use for your December Daily. That challenge is still going until Midnight November 29th 2014. So, if you're thinking of doing a December Daily you've time to check out her challenge.  I also done another challenge of Sue's. She was having a 24 hour challenge this weekend. The challenge is closed as of today Nov 23rd 2014 it ran from 11am Saturday 22nd to today 23rd at 11am. But what we had to do what alter a tag for our December Daily. Since I had a tag I kept from a order. I decided to alter it for my December Daily. Hope you enjoy seeing what I done so far in my December Daily project. Before, I forget her and another lady are both doing challenges for December Daily each week I think. I'll have links to Sue's videos below for anyone who wants to check it out. If you do check her videos for December Daily. Have a look around her channel, and if you like what you see. Please subscribe to her channel. I think she would enjoy having more people enjoying her channel and videos.

Another Heritage layout.

Hi Everyone,

Hope you all had a nice "hump day" Wednesday. I'm back to share with you another layout I did. This time I did a layout that included pets with my family. This layout I did was for a challenge one of the ladies put together. She does heritage challenges every month. This is one of my second layouts I did for her challenges. We had to find a photo with a pet or pets, family or visiting family. Or we could use a doilies. I choice two copies of photos of my paternal grandparents. One with my grandfather who had his picture taken with two ponies. These ponies weren't  my grandfathers they could have been a family or friends ponies. But my grandfather did keep horses on his property for while. He would keep the horses from Mackinac Island for the winter months for while. Then later my aunt as she got older. She loved horses so she got to keep a couple of them for while.

The other picture is of my paternal grandmother with her two sons. My uncle and father when they were young boys. With the dog Rattler, my dad didn't know the name of the dog. But suddenly last night it came to him. He told me her name was Rattler, she was his Uncle's dog, and unknown cat probably a stray cat that just happened to wonder in the picture.Hope you guys enjoy this new heritage layout. Please leave me comment below tell me what you think.

George and Julia - Our History Layout

I'm back! with another layout for you all to take a look at. It's another heritage layout this one is of my paternal great-great-grandparents. They are my paternal grandfather's maternal grandparents. I had a copy of these photos in my regular photo albums for couple of years now. I decided to finally do a layout with the pictures. These are the only known pictures of George, and Julia, that I have. I don't think they took a picture together as a couple before George's death in April 1891. The picture of George had to be taken between 1873 or 1876, but not sure on the date. The older picture of Julia, was taken around 1926 she was about 55 years old in the picture. George, and Julia, married ca 1889 or 1890. After they birth of their daughter, Nellie, they probably went to live in Forte Wayne, Ind. Where George's, died three months later he was only 27 and left a young widow and infant daughter behind. Julia, would marry for the second time in 1894 and have three more children with her second husband. I wanted to do this layout in honor of my great-grandmother and for George, so others in the family can see his picture even if it is a young childhood picture of him.

Family Portrait and John Stilwell Heritage layouts

Hi everyone sorry for the long delay in posting some more of my scrapbook layouts. I kind of forgot about this blog for a while. But, I been doing some layouts for the past couple of weeks and decided to start posting again of couple pieces of my work. I just finished two new layouts and both are heritage layouts of my paternal side of my family. The two layouts I'm showing were for two challenges on A Cheery On Top, it a scrapbook website. The family portrait was for a heritage challenge for the month of September. The John Stilwell, layout was for a washi tape challenge. Where you use any washi tape that fits to the layout. You've to cut the ends to into a "v" to make it look like ribbon. I'm trying to figure how much is too much to put in a heritage album. But realized there is no right or wrong way to scrapbook or put an album together. I need to shop again for a few supplies like adhesives and some wet glue that for sure. Well hope you all are enjoy your week. There will be more layout posting in the next few days of my other layouts. Until then hope you all enjoy these two layouts.

Grandma's Red Dress Scrapbook layout

Hello everyone I came to you with another layout. It is called Grandma's Red Dress. This layout is of my grandmother and her dress. Her favorite color is red and she does look good in red. The photos were taking in June 18, 1977. What really interesting about these photos. My grandmother became a grandma for the first time a month before. When her first grandson was born in May 1977. She would wear the same dress a year later in Oct 1978. At the marriage of her daughter (my mother) to my father. So  she worn this dress when she was already a grandmother for the first time. Then a year later when she watched her second child and only daughter. Get married and have a family of her own. I did journal about this layout. The empty spot on the bottom right corner just beneath the photo of my grandmother. Is where I put the journal of the story about the pictures. I decided not too long ago to not write the journal until after I took the picture. Because sometimes I write more information about my family. That I don't want everyone to see. I do sometimes write a lot on my journal and then snap the picture of the layout. But it depends on the layout and what the story about.

The photos below are close up of some of the embellishments, stickers and thickers. I used in this layout. Hope you all enjoy looking at this layout. I'm trying to update this site. If anyone can help me be able to learn how to better update my blog. Please let me know by leaving a comment in the comment section of this post. Thank You...

Where my Heart Going? Art Journal #1

Hello everyone I have a little bit something different for you all. I decided to try my hand at art jouranling. I always thought it look fun from watching some youtube clips. There was an idea that I wanted to do for sometime. So, I decided to take the chance and just go with it. I'd some blank pages in my sketch book. I'd from my college days a few years ago. I decided to maybe start filling it up with some art journal and mix media art. I figure this could maybe give me outlet and express my thoughts and feelings towards coming up with new art work. This piece I did is called Where my Heart Going?

It's mainly about if I ever will have that special someone in my life. Maybe get married someday and raise a family of my own. Because I realize as I get older in my early 30s now. I don't really want to be alone all my life. Because it can get lonely at times. I like the idea of growing old with someone. Hope you like my first art journal and check back for maybe some more posted on this blog in the future.

FingerPaint to Spring... :)

I'm back again with another layout to share with you all. This one was for a challenge on Youtube. I subscribe to this lady channel a few months ago. She a kind and nice lady always leaving me such nice comments on my videos. Her challenge was we had to use a photo we thought was fun to us. Also we had to use flowers in our layout too. It could have been die cut, paper, any kind of flower like embellishment. We had to explain why the photo was fun to us. Well I decided to do this challenge. I enjoyed how it turned out in the end. I hope you all enjoy not only the picture of my layout. But also my video showing my entry into the challenge. Now I didn't win the challenge. But I enjoyed making this layout. I'll be doing a few more challenges on Saturday for National Scrapbook Day! I like some of the challenges on Scrapbook.com also on A Cherry On Top will be enjoining in some of their challenges. I hope to get a few more layouts done on that day. It'll be my second year involved with national scrapbook day. It a good day to get some layouts done and be inspired with interesting and new challenges.
